mi amiga!

Our Air Force Academy Cadets

Colorado

We have had an amazing time in Colorado! It started with an unplanned stop to see our friends, Jan and Glenn, who were stationed with us at our first assignment at Shaw AFB. We had a great time catching up. We then "just happened" to go to the academy at just about the time the cadets were marching back from field training at Jack's Valley. We had no idea this was happening and "just happened " to talk to Austin's mom who told us this was taking place and where to go. We got there in plenty of time and out of all of the cadets, who all are dressed alike and all look alike, we found Austin and Kurt, two of our adopted sons from Centerville!! We were so thrilled! We yelled and cheered for them and I found myself transported back to standing on the sidelines of the track and cross country fields last year cheering Kurt and Eli on in their races. It was SO cool!! In the pictures, you can see that Austin is trying real hard not to laugh; I must have looked quite silly running beside him taking pictures!
We got to Denver and attended Greg and Sharon's 25th Wedding/Renewing of Vows Celebration. What a great time we had catching up with them and their family; we have vacationed with all of them, even Sharon's parents ,in the past and it was good to see so many of our Mexican amigos.
We are heading towards Washington tomorrow, taking 2-3 days to travel.
God is so good and we have been so blessed thus far; we can only anticipate the exciting things He has for us in Washington. Stay tuned...

Go GOD!

On the road again...
We had a great time in Florida seeing lots of friends and family. We took Eli to the airport and sent him "home" to Ohio and then headed towards Tucson. After two 16 hour days on the road (the pictures of the hotel are in San Antonio; the Texas shaped waffle was made in honor of Audra and Dawn, two of our favorite Texans!~~ When the girls saw the waffles, Emilie said, "Look, Mom, wouldn't Dawn and Audra love these?") we finally got into Tucson late Saturday night, in the middle of a monsoon storm. We love Monsoon season; God has his own fireworks show and uses lightning to dazzle the sky!
We went to Mt View Baptist this morning and enjoyed seeing lots of friends. The whole day we've all been saying how much we love Tucson and have missed it. I didn't realize how much I really did like it here; the desert is still beautiful and the sunset tonight was another example of God showing off His creation~ simply amazing!
Stay tuned... we are here for a few days and then head towards Denver to see the Egans on Thursday...

One of Uncle Bill's billboards and my favorite beach, Seaside. I LOVE Seaside!!

On the move...

Well, we are on the way to Washington, to our new assignment at McChord AFB. We got on the road last Saturday and made it to my sister's house in Ellijay, GA for a fun visit with the cousins. We then had a long day's drive to Valparaiso, my hometown, and spent several days with my parents, skiing and kneeboarding and trying to adjust to the humidity of N Florida. Sticky!
Mike and I dropped off the kids in Panama City on Friday and we went over to Tallahassee to visit a few friends from college/seminary days whom we haven't seen in ages. What a great time of catching up with Pat, who was our best man at our wedding, and Shuf, who was our campus minister at FSU. As always, it's fun to drive around Tally and FSU~ Go Noles!
We came back to PC to celebrate Mally's 12th bday with Mike's family. Mike's brother, Bill, is running for School Superintendent for Bay County, so the kids get a kick out of the signs and billboards with his picture and name all over the place.
Yesterday we visited Mike's church where he grew up and was ordained, Northside Baptist. It was wonderful to see many old friends who were formative in Mike's spiritual journey. Another fun time was Sunday afternoon when we headed over to Wewahitchka to see friends from our first church where Mike pastored, Westside Baptist. We had dinner with Harold & Lisa Dorman and had fun catching up and remembering the stories of our times together in Wewa.
Lots of catching up with old friends seems to be the theme of our trip thus far. Pray for us as we take Eli to the airport this Thursday to send him back to Ohio. He will stay with some dear friends until school starts in August and then be off to his first year at Cedarville University. We will head to Tucson, 3 very long days pulling a uhaul across Texas! Ugh!
Signing off for now...
