I've been reading several books on homelessness and I am approached what seems like many times a week from people asking for money. Sometimes I give them money and sometimes not. However, especially after reading this last book, I was somewhat convicted to give more freely. I know the pros and cons of giving panhandlers money. I've worked at the rescue mission and I've seen the marijuana passed around the circle of street people. (Just today, in fact.)
But God has been speaking to me about giving to anyone who asks. This thought was confirmed this morning as I sat and listened to Pastor Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill Church in Seattle. He is going through the book of Luke and was reading in chapter 6, vs30, which says to give to anyone who asks you for it. I felt a confirmation in my spirit that this is indeed, what God is asking of me.
So, I am going to give it a try and see what comes of it. Will let you know the results...
